Inspiration
Many years ago, I don’t know how it came about, my beloved offered words of encouragement to me by way of saying “But we’re Canadian. We have Rex Murphy!
And what a national treasure he is. Rex Murphy, I mean.
Mr. Murphy is, well, quite frankly, a brain with feet. He’s a radio host, newspaper columnist, writer, editor, television editorialist (if that’s a word) and an absolute inspiration. The man is a master of words: With every column I read and every commentary I hear on television, I am left with two thoughts. One, that he has once again hit the nail on the head and two, that he said it in a way that is just so bloody brilliant that I am in awe.
One of the many methods I’m employing to awaken the seemingly dormant side of my brain is to read Mr. Murphy’s latest offering, “Canada and other matters of opinion”. It’s a collection of his work and let me tell you, even the Introduction got me excited.
