Heedless
A brief conversation between myself and Himself. He is down with a cold.
Me: You should drink some juice. There’s lots in there - apple, orange, strawberry kiwi.
Himself: Don’t drink juice. Drink water, coffee, tea.
Me: Juice is GOOD. It has vitamins. Good stuff in it. It TASTES good.
Himself: Water, tea, coffee.
Me: JUICE. JUICE GOOD.
Himself: Water
Me: My efforts to introduce more fruits and vegetables into the household are going unheeded.
Himself: Yes, I am heedless.
Me: (employing Scottish accent) You’re off your heed.
I’m finding that loving and caring for and feeding a 46-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl is not much different from that of a 90-year-old Mom. There’s love, there’s care, and there’s the endless battle of wills.
