It’s Been Too Long
Well, hello there. I’ve missed you.
I have tales to tell, people: There are tales to tell of a cross-country drive in a little car with a tall man that was absolutely glorious, despite the completely lousy weather. There are tales to tell about setting up a life in a western locale whose residents are so full of themselves I wonder how they eat, and general ramblings about my country, your country and other stuff.
But it’s 1 in the morning, and I have to get up in five hours. I pick great times to renew old acquaintances, don’t I?
For now, there’s this: Dubya and Clinton are seemingly “surprised” that Americans and Canadians now have to use passports to cross their shared borders.
Now, let’s think about this: Bill Clinton is married to the current U.S. Secretary of State. George W. Bush was the one who pushed for the passport requirements. And both of them play dumb to a Canadian audience?
I guess when you’re being paid a quarter-million to get up on that stage, you can sell them just about anything with a cheesy smile.
